Dear Friends of Wildflower Home Happy Mother's day The following are some of Wildflower Home women’s reflections on Mother’s Day about their mothers.
W (18): I had no idea how much my mother loved me until I gave birth to my own baby. I love my mother a lot more now than before. S (18): There is no one else on the planet who loves me as much as my mother does. I realized this when my first child was born. N (19): I love my mother very much. M(21): I miss my mother very much. I regret what I have done wrong to her. I should have listened to her when I was young. Pl(17): Although I have not yet had the experience of being a mother like my other friends here, I always have loved my mother, but I never gave her a hug and told her I love her. I, now, would really like to go back to her and hug and tell her I love her so much. P(16): When I was in labor, the first person who came to my mind was my mother. I realized how much it must have hurt my mother when she gave birth to me. I miss her so much, especially when I am not feeling well. Y(16): I would like to tell my mother that I love her and I am so sorry for disappointing her. If I could go back in time, I would be good daughter and fix the things I have done wrong.
We are grateful to all of you who are mothers and who stand in solidarity with us through our struggles!
Income Generating Goals
Wildflower Home started the New Year with some new goals in mind. During 2009, besides trying to continue nurturing our agricultural sustainability project and putting up permanent structures, Wildflower Home has income generation as our focus. In mid January some university students from came through an organization called Students for International Free Enterprise from the US and paired with some Thai students to give our women a week long workshop focused on marketing, product development, book keeping, and things the women would need to know to get a small business going. This stirred the enthusiasm of our mothers who quickly went to work producing scented candles, jewelry, cross stitched change purses and other products volunteers come to teach them how to make. They are taking these things to the market to try to sell them, as well as targeting visitors to Wildflower Home. It has been a project with a lot of adjustments along the way as we try to find products that will sell. Our latest success has been herbal drinks sold locally.
